Pathways Participates in Launch Okanagan Fundraiser!
Pathways Abilities Society was pleased to participate in Launch Okanagan’s annual fundraising breakfast this week to celebrate Financial Literacy Month. Launch Okanagan helps people move forward in life by providing them with the financial knowledge and community support to take the next step towards greater independence and resiliency.
Part of the event included an expert panel discussion and Pathways’ Lena Charlton, Community Placement Developer, spoke about the challenges around inclusion in our financial system for individuals with disabilities. Lena did a great job outlining the hurdles faced by those designated as a Person with Disabilities (PWD) when it comes to accessing government programs, savings plans, and new tax credits. Lena’s personal stories brought a unique awareness to the roughly 200 participants gathered at Trinity Church. Thanks Lena for representing Pathways and the individuals and families we serve.
